Soybeans are one of those special types of foods that are available in so many different forms and can provide a variety of benefits when added to your diet.
From soy milk to tofu, there are so many ways you can use it and reap its nutritional benefits.
Here are five reasons why you should add soybeans to your diet. In the end, your body and overall health will thank you.

1. High in Protein

Soybeans are a great source of protein. In fact, the reason soybeans have become more popular over the years and been farmed more is that they contain more protein per acre of land than any other crop.
If you are trying to cut down on meat or eliminate it from your diet altogether, soybeans or soy products will probably become your new staple. Tofu (made famous by vegetarians and vegans worldwide) is made from soybeans and because tofu is used in such a variety of replacement foods, you won’t feel like you are missing out on any of your favorite foods.

2. Can Help You Lose or Gain Weight

Soybeans and products made from soy are filled with beneficial fiber, proteins, and vitamins. Soybeans and soy products have actually been known to help suppress the appetite in a healthy way, making it an excellent way to aid in weight loss.
At the same time, those who are out there trying to gain weight in a healthy way can use soybeans and soy products to do so. Eaten in large quantities, soy can help with weight gain without the worry of high cholesterol or unhealthy high fats.

3. Great for your Heart and Bones

The fiber that is found in soybeans has been shown to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol, which is great for preventing heart disease and heart attacks.
Also, soybeans are high in healthy fats, called unsaturated fats, that your body needs. Two specific fatty acids that are great for your health system–linolenic and linoleic–are specifically found in high amounts in soybeans, and help with smooth muscle function and decrease blood pressure levels.
Since soybeans have so many excellent vitamins and minerals, including calcium and protein, they are a great way to prevent osteoporosis. Eating soybeans can help the process of new bone growth and speed up the healing of the bones.

4. Helps Digestion and Circulation

All the fiber found in soybeans is super great for helping your digestive system. The fiber helps to bulk up your poop, making it easier to pass through. It also helps with the muscles that contract and push the food through your system, which is very helpful and beneficial to the digestive process.
Iron and copper are found in very high levels in soybeans and contribute to creating red blood cells. These red blood cells help oxygen to get to the heart and other vital organs of your body, helping them to function more properly.

5. Helps with Menopause

Considering all the side effects that come with it, such as mood swings, hunger pains, and hot flashes, menopause can be a traumatic time of life for women.
Soybeans are high in estrogen which can help these changes feel less dramatic and ease the body into menopause.
Once again, no matter how you consume soybeans or soy products, there are so many benefits to adding soy to your diet.

These little legumes should have a place in your cupboard, pantry, or fridge. Whatever your soybean storage, you will love the way you feel after adding them to your daily life.
